
Johns and Joyce Shut Out Lakehawks
Santa Fe opened the 2025 season on the road in Leesburg, Florida.

Santa Fe (1-0) made the trip to Leesburg, Florida this Friday knocking off Lake-Sumter State College (0-1) by a score of 3-0. Lucas Johns started on the mound for the Saints and went four innings before Stephen Joyce took over in his relief to throw the final five. Johns and Joyce were a force this afternoon, allowing two hits each and starting the year with a combined shutout. Johns moves to 1-0 on the season while Joyce earned the save.
In a very defensive game, The Saints capitalized on a 3-run 5th-inning frame to break the scoreless tie and secure the game's only runs vs the Lakehawks. Robert Nedry led the way with a two-hit, two RBI game while Griffin Sorrow added another RBI. Carlos Garcia had the game's only extra-base hit, a double and added a stolen base on top of his multi-hit performance.
The next game for Santa Fe will take place in Auburndale, Florida during the Early Bird Classic on Saturday, January 25th. This will be a doubleheader, as the Saints will look to add onto their 1-0 against Indian River State College at noon and against Palm Beach State College at 3:30
