Vikings nab women's hoops road win at Lake Michigan
Quist has career night with six triples.
Kylie Quist was on another level Saturday in Benton Harbor. The sophomore point guard connected on her first five 3-point attemps in the first quarter and finished with a game-high 20 points to lead Glen Oaks to a 59-54 women's basketball victory at Lake Michigan College.
The Athens native ended the night with six triples and a pair of free throws for a career-high performance.
Glen Oaks buckled down defensively in the second quarter, holding LMC to just six points en route to a 33-24 halftime advantage. The Red Hawks clawed back in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to four points, but Viking sophomore Kaytlin Smith poured in six of her 13 points in the fourth quarter to help GOCC hang on. She also grabbed nine rebounds.
Freshman Kulayjah Weller produced 11 points and 10 rebounds in her best outing of the season so far. Classmate Jordyn Partee finished with seven points and 11 boards, fellow freshman Kennedy Lockett had five points and seven rebounds, Jayla Parker-Vincent had two points and Tracy Ackley hit a free throw.
Glen Oaks improved to 5-11 overall and 1-2 in MCCAA Western Conference play.
The Vikings head to Kellogg Community College on Wednesday, Jan. 22 for a 5:30 tipoff.
