JCC Cages Kats in League Opening Win

BUFFALO, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball team made it nine wins in a row in dominating fashion, 71-28, over Erie Community College to open league play Saturday afternoon.

After an even start had things knotted at 4-4 nearly three minutes into action, Jamestown took over, winning the rest of the opening quarter 14-4 to take an 18-8 lead into the first break.

Freshman Jerica Barnard scored the final four points of the push as part of her ten on the day.

The Jayhawks blow things open in the second quarter, blitzing Erie with a 20-5 outburst.

Sophomore Grace Guarino has been a sparkplug off the bench and continued her ways with a pair of buckets in the run; she finished the day with ten points.

JCC would go to halftime seeing their lead balloon to 46-13 as they headed to the locker rooms.

Jamestown put together an 11-0 run early in the second half; Jennica Berens did most of the damage with five quick points.

The sophomore finished the day also hitting double digits at eleven points.

The high scorer on the afternoon for JCC was freshman Kendra Altadonna, who paced play with 12.

The victory improves Jamestown to 13-2 overall and 1-0 in league. 

Jamestown stays in conference action when SUNY Niagara comes to the JCC on Wednesday, January 29th, at 5:30 PM.
