Women's Basketball Falls to #16 NCMC

The Southwestern Spartan Women's Basketball team faced a tough challenge against #16-ranked North Central Missouri College (NCMC) on January 15, falling 91-46. Despite the loss, several Spartans had standout performances.

Brooklyn Hadl led the way offensively with 19 points, going 6-for-17 from the field and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. Gabby Dwanyen recorded a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 13 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass. Bhella Lavulavu added 10 points and five rebounds to the effort.

NCMC displayed their offensive efficiency throughout the game, shooting 48.6% from the field and 47.6% from beyond the arc (10-for-21). The visiting team capitalized on turnovers, scoring off Southwestern's 22 giveaways, while also winning the rebounding battle 38-28.

The Spartans were held to 26.2% shooting from the field, including 14.3% from three-point range. Southwestern now sits at 1-17 on the season.

Head Coach Kori Zarzutzki noted the team's ongoing efforts, saying, "Competing against a top-ranked team like NCMC highlights areas we need to improve on. Despite the outcome, we continue to see individual growth from players like Gabby, Brooklyn, and Bhella."
