Sharks Fall in Heartbreaker to Seminole State, 3-2
The Miami Dade Sharks suffered a tough 3-2 loss to Seminole State College of Florida on Sunday, despite a late-game rally in the eighth inning.
Miami Dade struggled offensively for much of the game against Seminole State's starter Carter Krawchuk, who tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven. The Sharks finally broke through in the eighth when Santiago Carriles-Alvarado delivered a clutch two-RBI single, plating Talan Beckford and Michael Petite to take a 2-1 lead.
However, Seminole State answered back in the bottom of the ninth. A single and a sacrifice fly brought home two runs, sealing the walk-off victory.
On the mound, Brandon Olivera was dominant in his start for Miami Dade, throwing 5.1 innings of one-hit ball with eight strikeouts. Reliever Jordan Vargas took the loss, surrendering two earned runs in the ninth.
Despite the loss, David Zamora led the Sharks with two hits, while Carriles-Alvarado was responsible for both RBIs.
