
Cougars Sweep Webber International JV in Season Opener
In the first game of their doubleheader against Webber International University JV, Frederick Community College Cougars had a dominant performance, securing a resounding 9-0 victory over Webber International University JV. Luke Pietrandrea and Adam Horst combined efforts on the mound, holding Webber JV to no runs over seven innings. Offensively, Frederick's Shawn Karpaitis led the charge with a home run and three RBIs, while Casey Westerberg contributed a two-run home run of his own. The team capitalized on ten hits to establish an early lead with zero errors.
In the second game, the Cougars continued their winning ways, blanking Webber JV 7-0 to complete the doubleheader sweep. Jordan Capuano pitched four solid innings, striking out five and allowing three hits with no runs. Shawn Karpaitis once again played a pivotal role, driving in four runs, including a home run and a sacrifice fly. Jacob Downey and Luis Perez Alfaro also each collected multiple hits and RBIs. With solid pitching performances and timely hitting, Frederick maintained control throughout the game, securing their second win of the day.
The Cougars (2-0) will now focus on their next challenge as they face Cornerstone University in a doubleheader at the Russ Matt Invitational on February 24 at 12:30 PM on NERP Field #1 in Northeast Regional Park.
