Cowboys Lead Start to Finish in Homecoming Win

Warner, OK- The Connors State College Cowboys got things rolling Early on Saturday in a game moved from earlier in the week due to inclement weather. The Cowboys who rolled to a 74-46 win to maintain their two-game lead in the conference race.

 

The Cowboys jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first eight minutes and were never in trouble as they improved to 21-3 on the season and 10-2 in conference play while the Mavericks fell to 4-23 and 1-12. Omaha freshman Kevin Stubblefield led the Cowboys with 19 points followed by DJ Dormu with 13, Jermiah Johnson and Edwin Daniel, recently named the NJCAA National Player of the Week for the week of February 10, with 11 points each and Aric Walls with 10.

Connors has just four regular season games left, three on the road, as the season winds down to the Region 2 tournament to be held March 12-15 again at Muskogee's Rougher Village.

"A two-game lead can evaporate pretty quickly if you don't play well on the road and we've got three of our final four on the road," said Muse.

Connors will play its final regular season home game Thursday against Redlands Community College at 7:30 p.m.
