Cyclones start spring training in South Carolina

The Cyclones started their spring training at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with a battle that resulted in a couple of losses.

GAME ONE
First up was some back and forth with Hagerstown Community College. The Hawks started with a 3-0 lead before the Cyclones added two of their own thanks to RBI singles from Brooklyn Sedlak (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Marissa Walsh (2-for-4, RBI).

Down 6-2 in the bottom of the third, Emma Hansen (1-for-3) singled and scored on a single from Estelle Loth (2-for-2, 2 RBIs) before Annabelle Rush (1-for-3, 2 RBIs) drove in two more runs with a hard double to left field. The Cyclones took a 7-6 lead in the fourth inning after Brialynn Mica (2-for-4) singled then scored on a double from Sedlak. Loth then drove in the go-ahead run. The Hawks tied the score, however, the following at-bat before pitching from both teams shut down the batters for a few innings.

A couple of walks and solid hits gave the Hawks the lead in the top of the seventh, and the Cyclones were unable to answer in their final at-bat for the 10-7 loss. Despite the loss, Alexandra Wolcott had a good outing on the mound, striking out one and walking three.

GAME TWO
The second game with Louisburg College saw the Cyclone bats go quiet. Only Brialynn Mica (1-for-3), Estelle Loth (1-for-3) and Annabelle Rush (1-for-3) had hits this outing.
