Miami Dade Dominates Coastal Alabama - South in 7-2 Victory
Miami Dade College put on a strong offensive and defensive display in their 7-2 win over Coastal Alabama - South. The Sharks racked up 13 hits while holding their opponents to just three, securing the victory with early runs and solid pitching performances.
After a scoreless first inning, Miami Dade struck in the second with a three-run burst. Willy Mendez opened the scoring with an RBI single, followed by a run from Matt Thorsen and an RBI double from Talan Beckford. The offensive momentum carried into the third, where Santiago Carriles-Alvarado and Jendy Gonzalez each recorded RBI hits to push the lead to 6-0.
While Coastal Alabama - South managed to get on the board in the seventh with a two-run homer from Kennedy Leggett, it wasn't enough to mount a comeback. Miami Dade added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single from David Zamora.
On the mound, Brandon Olivera started strong, allowing just one hit over four shutout innings with five strikeouts. Gabriel Cruz followed with four innings of work, striking out four while surrendering two earned runs. Jeffred Fermin closed the game with a scoreless ninth.
Carriles-Alvarado led the Miami Dade offense with a 2-for-5 performance, two runs scored, and an RBI. Gonzalez, Mendez, and Beckford also contributed key hits in the victory.
