Cape Fear vs Cleveland

Cape Fear loses 3-2

Highlights: In a gritty, 5-set Region 10 Conference semifinal match, Cape Fear Community College's volleyball team faced off against Cleveland but fell just short 3 sets to 2.

The Sea Devils started strong, with a solid first set performance hitting .267 as a group, which secured the opening set. The second set proved tighter, but Cape Fear's defensive efforts kept them ahead, allowing them to edge out Cleveland even with a slight dip in offensive momentum. The third and fourth sets showcased intense rallies and were decided by just two points each, with both teams trading wins and setting up a decisive fifth set.

In the fifth, Cleveland jumped out to an early lead, and Cape Fear couldn't close the gap, ultimately conceding the match. Key contributions included Mackenzie Davis with 13 kills and 19 digs, Sarah Siebert with 9 kills and 4 blocks, and Kori Jennings, who posted a season-high 27 assists and 11 digs. Quinn Meiser anchored the defense with 25 digs, while Nevaeh Ortiz added 8 kills and Addi Olson dominated at the net with 9 block assists.

"Always a heartbreaker when you end your season, especially by such close margins but Cleveland played an excellent match," says Head Coach Colby Rosser. "Incredibly grateful to our sophomores for everything they've meant to the program."
