Ladies Ranked #25 in Latest Poll; Split with #21 Seminole State

(March 10, 2025) Seminole, Oklahoma - After getting four wins last week, the Bucks schedule got a little tougher with a trip to tradition rich Seminole State College for a doubleheader this afternoon. Seminole State was ranked #21 in today's NJCAA DI Softball Poll, while the Bucks was ranked #25 in the latest NJCAA DII Softball poll. This is the Bucks second time getting ranked. Last season, the ladies were ranked as high as #13 mid-way through the season.

The day started off rough for the ladies, as Seminole State won 12-2 in 5-innings. Mallory Cheek (Lumberton, TX) hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning, followed by a Kate Daigle (Rayne, LA) RBI single to centerfield, but the Bucks would fall.

The ladies wanted to salvage the day and played much better in the second game. Lindsey Smyth (Mansfield, TX) got the start and went to work for the Bucks. She would give up 1 unearned run through 5.0 innings. The Bucks would give her run support in the top of the sixth inning.

With a pair of runners in scoring position and 2-outs, Brenli Baker (Enid, OK) hit a 2-RBI double to left field to open the scoring. Next at-bat, Daigle would hit a double and score pinch runner Sophie Shipp (Caddo Mills, TX).

Smyth returned in the sixth inning, but her day would end with 5.1 innings of work. Holly Raney (Mayflower, AR) came in to pitch in the save situation and got a pair of strike outs with 2 runners on to get the game to the seventh inning. After a scoreless top half, Raney gave up a single to lead off the inning. However, she would get three fly balls to end the game and seal the 3-1 win for the Bucks.

Lindsey Smyth (3-0) stayed perfect on the year, and currently boast a sub 1.0 ERA on the season. Raney (1) recorded her first save of the season.

The Bucks will return to action on Thursday at SAU Tech. The first game of the region doubleheader begins at 1 pm in Camden, AR.
