Chargers crush Kougars to stay unbeaten in conference play

GALESBURG — Antonia Kisler and Brook Pieper each delivered double-doubles as the Sandburg women's basketball team stayed unbeaten in the Arrowhead Conference with an 87-52 win over Kishwaukee on Thursday night.

KEY MOMENT
The Chargers (17-8, 5-0) never trailed in beating the Kougars, scoring the game's first eight points. Sandburg led 18-10 after the opening quarter, then put together a 10-0 run to begin the second period and grab a double-digit lead it wouldn't relinquish. Freshman Tiera Hall kicked off the stretch with a layup and added another bucket during the run.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
While Kisler and Pieper turned in their typical stellar performances (Kisler's double-double was her 10th of the season, while Pieper's was her 13th), the Chargers also got 12 points off the bench from freshman Paige Huffman. Huffman's total came on the strength of four 3-pointers, including a 3-for-3 stretch in less than a minute during the third quarter to push Sandburg's lead to 55-26. The double-digit outing was Huffman's first since Jan. 21 and fifth this season.
