The Roadrunner Men's and Women's Basketball teams finally return home after spending nearly the entire month of November on the road.
And each team arrives bask in Deptford, NJ on a roll as they play their first home games in nearly four weeks!
After a slow start, the Men's team, coached by Brandon Williams, have reeled off four straight wins to improve their overall record to 4-5. They will have an opportunity to even their mark at 5-5 with an 8 pm tipoff vs. Bergen CC, and Coach Williams knows this will be a tall task.
"We felt like road warriors the past several weeks, and it does wear you down," said Williams. "We're thrilled to be home, but make no mistake -- Bergen is a tough opponent and we will need to clean up a few areas."
Several players have performed well and have picked up the pace, including forward Chris Racobaldo, forward Fred Orock and guards Ace Lassiter and Kendall McCray. The foursome led the runners to a 72-67 win over Thaddeus Stevens prior to the Thanksgiving break for their fourth straight triumph.
On the women's side, the Runners have emerged as one of the top teams in the nation with a 5-1 overall record against a tough slate of opponents. The Runners, led by forward-center Shannon Pierman and forward Jermyra Bethea along with guard Anna DiPiero, have won three in a row. They hope to keep the streak alive vs. Bergen in a 5 pm tipoff.
"It's so good to be home and playing on our home court," said coach Rich Cooper, whose team played 5 of 6 games on the road in November. "We're playing well, especially Shannon (Pierman) and Myra (Bethea), who are outstanding athletes. A few others are starting to contribute too, so we look forward to seeing the team evolve in December.
In addition to the Bergen games, the Men's team will play five home games in December with the Women's squad playing four home matches.
