Lakers fall to Northeast

In game 1 the Hawks had a booming start putting up 8 runs in the 1st inning, setting the tone for the game. The Lakers gave up 7 hits, scoring 13 runs in 6 innings. On the offensive side for the Lakers, the Hawks only allowed 4 hits. Sophomores Keyber Delgado, Beau Dalian, Luis Cedeno, and freshman Carson Riggs all had hits for the Lakers. Sophomore August Goethals had the lone RBI, scoring Beau Dalian in the bottom half of the 2nd inning. The Lakers fell 1-13 in 6 innings.

In game  2, the Lakers had a better defensive start to the game only allowing 1 run in the 1st inning. Freshman Nick Ryun had 3 hits, Beau Dalian added 2 hits and an RBI. Freshmen Carson Riggs and Spencer Kober came up big for the Lakers having 6 combined RBIs. Kober had 4 walks and a hit as well. Sophomores Keyber Delgado and Drake Van Meter had 3 walks. Despite the efforts of starting pitcher, Emerson Fels(6 innings), the Lakers fell 1 run short falling to the Hawks 11-12 in 11 innings.

The Lakers fall to 5-16 overall and 1-4 in conference. They are back in action March 28th and the 29th against Kirkwood CC in Cedar Rapids. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm, weather permitting.
