Louisburg Takes Home Men’s Basketball Victory at Buzzer

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team hosted the Hurricanes of Louisburg College (NJCAA DII) for a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon. After the contest, the Statesmen moved to 2-7 overall, 1-0 in conference play after falling to the Hurricanes, 70-72.
Saturday's contest was a battle from tip-off, to the final buzzer. The Statesmen went ahead leading 36-32 at the break. Louisburg outscored the Statesmen 34-40 in the second half, and scoring the game-winner at the buzzer to take home the non-conference win.
Andy Ramirez led the way for the Statesmen with his second double-double of the season, scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals, two assists, and two blocks. Doyle Brown added 17 points, four assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block for Richard Bland. Jermaine Coston Jr. scored his third double-double of the season with 13 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals on the day. Emmanuel Vonhm chipped in with nine points and two rebounds, while Jalen Smith had six assists, five rebounds, two steals, and two points. Christian Chambers added three points and Dove Fishburne four rebounds in the loss.
Richard Bland shot 46.4% from the field, 23.8% from the perimeter, and 68.4% from the charity stripe.
The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team opens the spring semester in the new year on Wednesday, January 8th at Patrick & Henry Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for
