Men's basketball clips Eagles to finish regular season strong

The Lakeland mens' basketball team traveled to Springfield, OH today to face off against the Clark State Eagles in OCCAC action. Lakeland wasted little time in getting started as they used an efficient offense and strong defense to earn a 105-79 victory. The Lakers finished the regular season with a 13-3 OCCAC record and 19-7 overall. Lakeland used a balance scoring attack in the first half to take a 52-37 halftime lead before cruising to the win. 

Lakeland was led offensively by Devin Belle who finished with 32 points (including 9-10 from the free throw line). Aaron Ward picked up 19 points while Kaleb Wanamaker scored 14 points for the Lakers. Brandon Moore finished his afternoon with 13 points while Amarion Glenn added 9 points. Adam Williams and Eric Cook each picked up 6 points while Keenan Hughes chipped in 5 points in Lakeland's win. As a team, the Lakers shot 86% (12-14) from the line.

Next Up: The Lakers have clinched a play-off spot in the semi-finals of the District C Men's Basketball Tournament. The tournament is hosted by Mott Community College in Flint, MI. On Thursday (3/6), the Lakers will face off against the Macomb Monarchs as the #3 seed. The second seeded Monarchs are currently ranked 8th in the country according to the latest NJCAA poll. The Lakers play at 11:00 am. If they win on Thursday, the Lakers would face the winner of Mid-Michigan College (currently ranked 10th nationally) and the Michigan West #3/#4 winner on Saturday (3/8) at 11:00 am. The winner of this game earns a trip to Nationals.
