Triceratops Ground the Eagles of Clark State Community College, 110 - 96

The Triceratops (19-9, 12-2) celebrated a memorable afternoon, honoring their six sophomores—Saevion Brown, Davonte Demianov, Devonte Greene, Patrick Gale, Xavier Vann, and Joel Webb. Xavier Vann led the charge, delivering his best performance of the season. The Sophomore guard scored a game-high 24 points, but his contributions went far beyond the scoreboard. Vann added eight rebounds (four offensive), five assists, and four steals while shooting an impressive 63% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

Other sophomore standouts included Webb (16 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and 67% from three), Gale (a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, including six offensive), Brown (16 points), and Greene (14 points). Freshman Chris Brownlee also contributed with 16 points, and a team-high eight assists to round out the Triceratops' strong scoring performance.

Vann set the tone defensively early, as the Triceratops made it clear they came to play. The Eagles were held to a mere 27% shooting from the field and attempted only 12 free throws all game. The defense was relentless, making it tough for the Eagles to get easy buckets. The fast pace of the game put the Eagles in a hole, as they trailed by five at halftime and were outscored by nine in the second half. The result was never in doubt, as the Triceratops continued to build momentum heading into the regional tournament.
