Colts advance to 2-0 in an 89-79 victory over the Vikings
On Thursday November 7th the Colts took on the Vikings of Hudson Valley Community College for a 7:00 home event on the Paul Rickard Court inside the Chris Schmid gymnasium.
The Vikings were able to put the first points on the board and were able to gain a 5-0 lead before the Colts were able to score their first basket coming off of a heads up play from Daniel Lans. After the Colts scored their first points of the game Coach Tom Rickard called his first timeout of the game. In the first half of the game the Colts were able to gain their lead and maintain it for the entire first half outscoring the Vikings 44-37 through the first 20 minutes of play after the Colts were unable to capitalize on their last shot before the half to push their lead to double digits.
To start off the second half guard Marquis Gill threw the ball in to teammate Mathew Shea who worked his way in between defenders for the first bucket of the half. Much like the first half the Colts were scoring left and right and did all they could to stop the Vikings from scoring in any shape or form. Doing just that while forcing bad shots and capitalizing on the other end the Colts were able to gain a 21 point advantage over the Vikings by a score of 87-66 with just under three minutes left in the game.
With just under a minute left the Vikings seemed to find their spark and managed to cut the lead to 10 points but was not enough to take down the Colts as the Colts move on to a 2-0 record after a 89-79 victory over Hudson Valley. They will take on the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton Albany on Tuesday November 12th at home. This will be the third consecutive game where the Colts will be hosting and look to continue their at home success.
The leading scorers are three familiar faces in Jabari Phillip, Daniel Lans and Mathew Shea.
