DMACC baseball team drops 11-3 decision to Madison College

 

The DMACC baseball team fell to 6-12 for the season following an 11-3 loss to Madison Community (MC) March 9 at Cedar Rapids.

 

MC, making its 2024-25 spring debut, took a 6-0 lead in the first inning, scored twice in the second and opened up a 10-3 lead with two runs in the bottom of the third after DMACC scored three runs in the top of the inning.

 

The Bears were limited to five singles in the game, including an RBI single by sophomore Jackson Manning of Keosauqua. Manning's hit came after freshman Blake Crancer of Normal, Ill., opened the third inning with a base on balls. Crancer moved to second on a base hit by freshman Archer Ogbourne of Carlisle and scored on Manning's hit. Ogbourne and Manning tallied the other two runs on MC errors.

 

Sophomore Carter Woollums of Johnston started on the mound for DMACC and went just an inning and a third, allowing eight runs on eight hits. Sophomore Konner Entz of West Fargo, N.D., threw two and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Sophomore Jaqson Tejada of Marion went two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts and freshman Gage Miller of Mandan, N.D., struck out one batter in a third of an inning on the mound Sophomore Ty Thompson of Council Bluffs pitched the final three innings for the Bears, striking out seven batters and walking one.

 

The DMACC baseball team will open Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play against Northeast (Neb.) Community College March 19 at Norfolk, Neb. NECC is 11-6 and has doubleheaders scheduled against Southeast (Neb.) Community College (SECC), Mount Marty University (MMU) and Barton Community College (BCC) before facing the Bears.
