Bucks Fall in Season Opener

(January 24, 2025) Gainesville, Texas - Coming off a Region 2 East Division Championship last season, the Bucks begin the Peyton Traywick era of Bucks Baseball. The men opened their season Friday afternoon against North Central Texas College at Gainesville High School. This was the first of 3 games between the Bucks and Lions this weekend.

The Bucks held an early 2-0 lead, and the game was tied 3-3 halfway through the third inning. Offensively, Jack Bilski (La Porte, TX) had a double and a triple with an RBI during two and a half innings. Daniel Yardley (Yukon, OK) and Ian Smith (Bismarck, AR) both added a RBI of their own.

NCTC bats got hot and capitalized on some errors and added 6 runs in the bottom of the third and a 7 spot in the fourth to take a 16-3 lead after four innings.

The fifth inning went scoreless. Ty Steele (Bentonville, AR) came on and stopped the bleeding with 2.0 innings of scoreless baseball. He would record a pair of strikeouts. 

The Bucks would fall 16-3 in seven innings to the Lions. 

Camden Farmer (Paragould, AR) started the game and pitched 2.0 innings. He would give up 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts. Carson Dilks (Overland Park, KS) (0-1) gets the loss in 1.0 innings of work. 

Offensively, the Bucks recorded 4 hits, all in the first three innings of the contest. Defensively, the Bucks committed 4 errors that led to 7 unearned runs for NCTC. 

The Bucks and Lions conclude the series tomorrow at Gainesville High School. First pitch is scheduled for 12 pm.
