North Lake Uses 9 Pitchers in Win Over No. 3 Eastfield

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's baseball team won the second game of a three-game series with No. 3 nationally-ranked Dallas College Eastfield 8-7 Friday.
The Blazers improved to 20-28 overall, 11-12 in the Dallas Athletic Conference after the win.
North Lake used nine pitchers, four of them tossing an inning of shutout relief. Logan Walp (1-1) needed only to face one batter to earn his first win. Trey Ramirez, Reece Parrott, Daniel Lopez and Jacob Ayala each worked an inning without allowing a run. Ramirez retired all three batters he faced.
The Blazers scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to overcome a 2-0 hole. After Eastfield (39-8, 19-4) tied it in the top of the sixth, North Lake reclaimed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Blazers added three more in the seventh to go up 8-3. Eastfield scored four runs in the ninth, but the Blazers held on.
North Lake second baseman Harrison Golden went 3 for 4 with a walk. Designated hitter Michael Holden was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a walk. Left fielder Jake Williams had two hits, and drove in two runs in four at-bats. Center fielder Shaun Williams and first baseman Parker Burt both had a hit, and drove in a run.
Eastfield's Michael Caputo went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBI. Jorge Herrera was 2 for 4 with two RBI. Angel Gutierrez went 2 for 3, walked twice and drove in a run.
It was North Lake's eighth one-run victory of the season. The Blazers are 8-6 in one-run games this season.
North Lake improved to 15-7 at home.
