Jayhawks Win Streak Snapped in Battle with Bryant and Stratton

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) Jayhawks women's basketball team saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end in a hard-fought battle with four-year school Bryand and Stratton (B/S) of Buffalo on Saturday afternoon.

Jamestown snagged an early 5-2 lead off of a long-range three from freshman Alyson Canfield.

That advantage was short-lived as B/S scored 11 of the next 14 points to go up 13-7.

Jamestown quickly answered back with their sophomores, Jennica Berens' layup and Myla Truitt's elbow jumper, tying the game at 13-13.

The Bobcats closed the quarter strong, and JCC was trailing 17-13 at the break.

Jamestown's offense went cold in the second quarter, shooting one of five from three, and B/S was able to build a seven-point edge entering halftime.

JCC clawed back in the third. Midway through the frame, Jamestown cut the deficit to two at 35-33 when Truitt buried a triple. She led all scorers with 25 points.

JCC got to within a point at the 3:36 mark of the quarter on another bucket from Truitt, which made the game 39-38.

The seesaw affair continued into the fourth. Jamestown fell back down five at the 5:04 mark, when Kendra Altadonna swished a bomb to bring the score to 52-50.

After the Bobcats built another seven-point lead, JCC once again scrapped to keep it close.

Truitt splashed home a three from the wing to make it a 66-62 game, but that was all the scoring with JCC falling by four.

The ladie returns to league action on Wednesday when they host Erie Community College at 5:30 PM for Sophomore Night.
