Women’s basketball falls to CCRI in semi-finals

Warwick, RI (March 1, 2025) – The fourth seeded Northern Essex Community College women's basketball team saw their campaign come to close on Saturday afternoon at the hands of top seeded and #8 nationally ranked CCRI in the Region 21/East District Semi-Finals by a 94-52 final score. The Knights conclude the season with a 10-12 overall record.

The Knights hung tight in the games opening minutes, but CCRI would quickly pull away and took a 13 point lead at the end of the first quarter and expanded the lead to 23 at the halftime break 46-23.

Mirelys Morales (Dracut) concluded her two seasons in a nights uniform as the games high scorer as she scored 29 points in defeat. She also added nine rebounds and four steals.

Rhaelyn Gutierrez (Methuen) who entered the post-season as the nations second leading scorer was held to 11 points, all of which game in the fourth quarter. Shaneley Henriquez (Haverhill) also added 10 points for the Knights.

For NECC it was their second straight post-season appearance, advancing to the championship game in 2024.
