
ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team fell to visiting Fork Union Military Academy, 13-10, Saturday at a blustery Siegert Field.
Jordan Fanzo scored three goals to go with four assists to lead AACC in scoring. Tyson Miller and Sahil Lengade each added three goals and an assist. Aaron Herdt picked up a goal and Justin Sampson tallied an assist.
Despite going 2-for-3 on man-up opportunities in the first quarter, the Riverhawks (1-2) trailed, 6-3, at the buzzer. Both teams scored four times in the second quarter. AACC twice got within one goal of the Blue Devils in the third quarter, but a Fork Union goal with 14 ticks left on the clock pushed the visitors ahead by two headed into the fourth. The Blue Devils added a transition goal in the fourth while holding their hosts without a goal in the frame.
James Kavney went 14-for-25 at the faceoff x for AACC, winning five of eight in the second half, including a 2-for-2 performance in the final frame.
AACC led in groundballs, 24-29, but also led in turnovers with 21 – 13 of which came in the second half.
Riverhawks netminder Parrish Fleming made 12 saves in the loss.
Next up for AACC is a 6 p.m. game at Mercer on Wednesday, March 5. The Riverhawks return home for a 12 p.m. game against No. 5 Genesee on Saturday, March 8.
