Southwestern improved to 9-11 with a strong performance against Dakota County Technical College on January 16. The Spartans held a 43-38 lead at halftime and extended it with efficient shooting and improved rebounding in the second half.

The Spartans shot 50.8% from the field and 58.8% from beyond the arc while dishing out 20 assists as a team. Head Coach Darryl Fletcher praised the team's second-half adjustments, saying, "We gave up too many offensive rebounds in the first half, but we cleaned it up after halftime. Proud of the win, but we still have things to work on."
