Miami Dade Dominates Hillsborough on Sophomore Night, 87-60
The Miami Dade College Sharks put on a show for Sophomore Night, cruising to an 87-60 victory over Hillsborough Community College. A strong offensive performance and dominant rebounding effort powered the Sharks to their latest win.
From the opening tip, Miami Dade set the tone with a 27-point first quarter, establishing a lead they would never relinquish. The Sharks kept the pressure on throughout, outscoring Hillsborough in every quarter, including a decisive 20-9 third-quarter run that sealed the game.
Freshman Cleaira Peterson was unstoppable in the paint, leading all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting while adding 12 rebounds for a double-double. Jazmyne Bynum and Kiara Harris each contributed 21 points, with Harris draining five three-pointers to stretch the defense. Michaela Lane was a force on the boards, grabbing a game-high 18 rebounds, while Shameir Quimby filled the stat sheet with 14 rebounds and six assists.
The Sharks dominated the rebounding battle, pulling down 68 total rebounds to Hillsborough's 46, leading to multiple second-chance opportunities. The Sharks also moved the ball effectively, dishing out 22 assists as a team.
For Hillsborough, Linnea Blomberg led the way with 21 points, while Jasmine Bocca added 12, but the Hawks struggled from deep, shooting just 16.2% from three-point range (6-of-37).
