
Trojans push win streak to 7 games
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team moved its winning streak to seven games with a narrow 81-79 win over Central CC-Columbus Friday night at the Iowa/Nebraska Challenge in the NIACC gym.
The Trojans have not lost since dropping their season opener to Wilbur Wright College at the Konigsmark Klassic on Nov. 1. The seven-game win streak is the longest by the Trojans since they started the 2019-20 season with 11 straight victories.
In Friday's win over Central CC-Columbus, sophomore Brayden Drea led the Trojans with 17 points. Drea, who is from Indianola, was 6 of 8 from the field, including a 3 of 4 performance from 3-point range.
Also for the Trojans, Adam Hackett and Jaheim Savage both scored 15 points. Omarion Roberts scored 12 points and Zion Wright scored 10 points.
Wright led the Trojans with 11 rebounds as he collected his third double/double of the season, including his second straight double/double. He scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Wednesday's home win over Minnesota North College-Hibbing.
Drea and Roberts both dished out six assists to lead the Trojans.
NIACC returns to action at 5 p.m. Saturday at home against Southeast CC in the second day of the Iowa/Nebraska Challenge in the NIACC gym.
