Strong Hitting Not Enough As Muskegon Community College Jayhawks Baseball Falls To Saint Elizabeth University
Despite outhitting Saint Elizabeth University 4-2, the Jayhawks fell 2-1 on Sunday. Carter Hughes, Gabe Shooltz, Bryce Luevano, and Ryne Christensen each recorded a hit.
Shooltz tied the game at one in the top of the second with a sacrifice fly.
Starting pitcher Koby Windeler delivered a strong performance, allowing just two hits and two unearned runs over six innings while striking out six and walking three.
Shooltz went 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in the team's lone run. The Jayhawks were aggressive on the base paths, swiping three stolen bases in the game.
Muskegon Community College Jayhawks Baseball Fall To University of Mary Washington After Surrendering Big Fifth Inning
A nine-run fifth inning powered the University of Mary Washington past the Jayhawks, 12-2, on Sunday.
The Jayhawks took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third when Lawson Doyle singled to center and Bryce Luevano grounded out, each driving in a run.
Sean Shooltz got the start on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits over four innings while striking out seven and walking two.
Dayton Thomas, Luevano, Koby Windeler, Ryne Christensen, and Doyle each recorded a hit. Luevano and Doyle were a tough duo in the lineup, both driving in a run. Defensively, the Jayhawks turned one double play.
