Trojans cruise past Tritons, 79-49
MASON CITY - Grace Berding scored a career-high 19 points to lead the NIACC women's basketball team to a 79-49 victory over Iowa Central Sunday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Berding was 7 of 11 from the field, including a 5 of 8 performance from 3-point range. Berding''s previous career high was 11 points, twice.
Also for the Trojans, Tori Miller and Keeley Steele both scored 18 points. Karly Holm and Reggi Spotts both scored nine points.
Miller also grabbed eight rebounds with five assists and three steals. Steele had 11 steals, seven rebounds and four assists while collecting her fourth double/double of the season.
The 11 steals by Steele is tied for second on NIACC's single-game steals list with Kris Long (1989-90 season) and Jada Buford (2018-19 season). Chelsey Jacox holds the school's single-game record for steals with 13 against Riverland CC on Nov. 7, 2012.
NIACC improved its overall record to 20-6 and league mark to 10-5. It is the second straight 20-win season for the Trojans.
Iowa Central dipped to 6-20 overall and 1-15 in league play.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Marshalltown CC.
