
ARNOLD, Md. – The Penn Highlands Community College men's basketball team rallied to defeat host Anne Arundel Community College, 69-60, in Jenkins Gym Tuesday afternoon. AACC recorded a season-high 17 steals in the game.
Ryan Stacy and Zef Fuanya each scored 17 points for AACC, with Fuanya adding seven rebounds and three steals. Stacy had a team-high four steals.
The Riverhawks (2-8) led by 16 with just under 14 minutes left in the game before the Black Bears used a 14-3 run to get within four with 9:23 to play. PHCC outscored AACC, 23-8, over the final 10 minutes while icing the hosts completely over the final 5:05 to take the win.
AACC broke out to a 16-2 lead in the first six minutes of the game and maintained a double-digit lead until the 7:24 mark of the opening half. The Riverhawks carried a five-point advantage into halftime, leading 34-29.
The Riverhawks' season-high 17 steals in the game led to 13 points off turnovers. Penn Highlands outrebounded AACC by a 53-38 margin, and benefitted from 35 bench points in the game, including 14 second-half points from Desmond Handon.
Next up, AACC hosts a pair of weekend games against ranked opponents, facing No. 15 Montgomery Saturday at 3 p.m. and No. 17 SUNY Niagara Sunday at 3 p.m.
