Adirondack Defeated, Despite Outhitting Hudson Valley
Troy, N.Y. –
SUNY Adirondack put together a strong offensive showing in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader, but it wasn't enough to overcome Hudson Valley CC, falling 9-3 despite out-hitting the Vikings 11-7.
The Timberwolves were led at the plate by Maddie Pincheon and Sam Manning, who each collected three hits. Natalie Conroy added two more, as Adirondack pounded out 11 total hits and drew six walks in a game where they created plenty of opportunities.
After falling behind 2-0 on a first-inning home run by Maeve Brannigan, Adirondack answered quickly. Maddy Wasserman drove in one run with a single, and EmmyLou Richards tagged up to score the tying run in the bottom of the first. Marissa Jarvis gave the Timberwolves a 3-2 lead in the third with an RBI single.
Hudson Valley responded with a four-run fourth inning to reclaim control, capitalizing on a double by Brannigan, a single by Lily Brennan, and a wild pitch. They tacked on three more in the final innings to seal the win.
Wasserman went the distance in the circle for SUNY Adirondack, striking out six while allowing seven earned runs on seven hits. Hudson Valley's Moira Collins earned the win in relief, tossing four scoreless innings.
Jarvis, Wasserman, and Morgan Randall each drove in a run, while Adirondack kept pressure on the bases with three stolen bags, including two by Wasserman.
The Timberwolves showed resilience and continued growth at the plate but were ultimately unable to match Hudson Valley's timely scoring.
