Last night the Central Community College Women's Basketball team faced off against Southeast Community College in round one of the Region 9 Championships. The Raiders were defeated by Southeast Community College 75-56.
The first half didn't go the Raiders way, with CCC only making 2 of their threes vs. Southeast putting in 10, a 24-point differential from beyond the arc. This shooting put the Bobcats up 49-31 at half. The second half saw CCC fight back and cut the lead to single digits going into the fourth quarter with some better shooting from the Raiders. The consistent scoring of the Bobcats proved to be too much at the end however, and got the Bobcats the 75-56 win. Delaney Reeg's led the Raiders in scoring with 15 and Ajae McKimmey contributed a 13 rebound 11 point double-double.
When asked about the season as a whole, Coach Kasandra Stoltz said, "I couldn't be more proud of this team. We faced challenges that tested our resolve, but it was in those moments that we saw the true character of our players." Stoltz said, "The growth I have witnessed, not just in their basketball abilities, but in their teamwork, leadership, and mental toughness, has been nothing short of remarkable.
While the scoreboard doesn't always reflect every effort, every practice, and every sacrifice, I know that this team gave everything they had. We've built a foundation this season that will propel us forward, and I'm excited about what the future holds."
This loss concludes the Women Raiders 24-25' Basketball season.
