
Trojans fall to Tritons, 96-78
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped a 96-78 decision to Iowa Central on Sunday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Iowa Central, which led 56-25 at the half, was led by Jalen Winter with 20 points, including four 3-point goals. Jordan Cain was next in line for the Tritons with 18 points.
Iowa Central (15-11 overall, 8-8 in ICCAC) was 15 of 26 from 3-point range. The Tritons were 12 of 13 from 3-point range in the first half.
NIACC was led by freshman Lance Helming with 15 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Omarion Roberts scored 13 points and freshman Joseph Fitch scored 12 points.
Fitch also collected seven rebounds.
NIACC's Jaheim Savage, who scored seven points, had five assists, four rebounds, three blocked shots and one steal.
NIACC (17-10, 8-8) returns to action Saturday at home in an ICCAC contest on sophomore day. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 3 p.m.
The Trojans wrap up their regular season Feb. 26 in a league game at Iowa Lakes.
