Viking men steamroll Grand Rapids
Glen Oaks scores second-highest point total of the season.
CENTREVILLE — In its second-most productive offensive outing of the season Saturday at home, the Glen Oaks Community College rolled to a 102-77 victory against Grand Rapids to take over second place in the MCCAA Western Conference standings.
The Vikings improved to 11-8 overall and 4-1 in the league, bumping GRCC (16-3, 3-1) into third place in the standings. Kalamazoo Valley still sits atop the list with 17-1 overall mark and 4-0 record in the conference.
Freshman Taurus Baugh had a day for Glen Oaks, finishing with a game-high 19 points.
And in one of the better efforts at the free-throw line this year, the Vikings shot 85 percent and outscored Grand Rapids 20-6 at the stripe. Freshman Amauri Moore and sophomore Aaron Humphrey both dumped in 16 points, and freshman Akin Smith posted 15.
Sophomore Darrius Roach and freshman Will Jamison each finished with nine, rookie Mike Phillips scored eight, and classmates Nate Keil and Ananias Evans both posted five.
