Jayhawks fall to #6 Mid Michigan
Anna Lundquist double double not enough against Mid Michigan
The Lady Jayhawks traveled over to Mid-Michigan College Wednesday afternoon for a long-awaited game against the number sixth ranked in the nation.
The Jayhawks and the Lakers were both tied in the northern conference before the game started. From tipoff, the Lakers were applying pressure in a full court press. In the first half, the Jayhawks had a great run and solid offense managing to break the press. The team had a major slowdown in the second quarter, struggling to get past the sharp three-point shooting. Coming out after half, the Jayhawks kicked up their intensity. In the second half alone, it was a completely different basketball game: Fast paced, high intensity. In the end, Jayhawks lost 70-90.
Leaders of the game were Anna Lundquist (#30) with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. Tyvi Davis (#23) with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Arrionna Williams (#20) with 7 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. And Kennedy Adams (#11) with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal.
Head Coach Jason Cooper reflected upon the game with saying, "Tough loss on the road. We started out with the intensity needed to win but could not sustain it for the whole game. We saw some areas we need to prove in and will work on them moving forward."
The Jayhawks play at home this weekend vs Kirtland Community College @1:00 in the Bartels-Rhode Gymnasium.
