Lakehawk Baseball Falls Short Offensively to Saints
LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball opened the 2025 season at home on Friday afternoon with a single game against Santa Fe College. The Lakehawks came up short to the Saints in the season opener 3-0.
Starting pitcher Max Windham held the Saints scoreless for 4.1 innings before a leadoff double paired with a walk in the top of the fifth started a three-run rally.
Colby White took the mound in relief tossing 2.2 scoreless innings to shut down the Santa Fe offense. Sophomore newcomer Riley Fitzgerald closed out the game with 2.0 innings pitched and no runs allowed.
The Lakehawks put runners on base each inning, but were unable to manufacture to answer back on Santa Fe's fifth inning lead.
Eli Thurmond, Andrew Merchant, Mason Blackburn, and Tad Brooks each recorded one hit. Ryan Villaman and Ean Gimson had two walks each.
Windham recorded the loss on the mound to move to 0-1 on the season.
