
Ocelots Begin 2024-25 Season With Big Win
CLEVELAND, OH - The Ocelots women's basketball team opened their 2024-25 campaign traveling to Cuyahoga Community College, a team that the Ocelots beat 66-49 last year.
Schoolcraft opened up the 1st quarter by outscoring the triceratops 17-12. Cuyahoga would fight back in the 2nd quarter, outscoring Schoolcraft 14-13. At the half, Schoolcraft would lead 30-26.
Things would take a turn in the 2nd half. The Ocelots would completely pull away in the 3rd quarter, scoring 25 points while holding Cuyahoga to just 8 points. The defense would stay strong for Schoolcraft in the 4th quarter, allowing only 7 points. Scoring 20 more points in the final frame, Schoolcraft would open up their season with a 75-41 win.
Sharon Smith would lead Schoolcraft in scoring with 13 points while Daija Brown would finish right behind Smith with 12 points. Brown would corral 11 rebounds on her way to her first double-double in her collegiate debut. Mariah Scott would register a team high 4 assists along with 8 points in her college debut as well. Defense was key throughout the game as Schoolcraft would post 3 blocks and 16 steals, led by Brooklynn Vickers with 5.
Up next for Schoolcraft is another road game as they travel back to Ohio to face off against Owens Community College on Wednesday, November 6.
