Colts take down the Generals of Sullivan County Community College.
Snapping a 3-game losing streak against the Generals. The last time the Colts came away with a win against Sullivan County was Feb. 9th, 2023, of the 22-23 season.
On Thursday November 14th the SUNY Orange Colts took on Region XV opponent the Generals of Sullivan Community College. After losing both appearances against the Generals last season one of which was for the Mid-Hudson Conference Championship, the Colts showed zero signs of letting up and wanted to put the region on notice after defeating Sullivan County. Like the previous games the Colts relied on their constant and relentless defensive pressure and made sure to push the opposition on the offensive end to score fast points. Through the first four games the Colts stand at a 4-0 record, they average 86.0 points with 46.3 rebounds and 17.3 assists per game. The Colts are shooting just above 50% with 52.4% shooting percentage and just a 21.7% 3 point percentage.
The Colts took care of business in with dominate two halves, defeating the defending conference champions 85-61 officially ending their three game losing streak against the Generals. Thanks to a overpowering first half where the Colts scored a whopping 47 points to the Generals 28 gave the Colts enough momentum to push through and finish strong with a win. Through their first four games the Colts have held their opponent to less than 80 points and in the past two games have not allowed more than 62 points scored against them.
Jabari Phillip currently leads the team in points, rebounds, blocks and is tied with teammate Mathew Shea for second most minutes played at 111.
In the win over the Generals there were five different Colts who finished with 10+ points. Daniel Lans, Jabari Phillip and Marco Evans each scored 12 points, Marquis Gill scored 15 points and Mathew Shea led the Colts with an amazing 19 points.
So. Guard #24 Mathew Shea finished the game with his third consecutive double-double tallying 19 points and 11 rebounds. Shea led the Colts in both points and rebounds while also adding 2 steals, one block and one assists to his great outing.
So. Forward #22 Jabari Phillip finished the game with his third double-double of the season finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds and also added one steal and one block to his night.
So Guard #1 Marquis Gill finished the game shooting 7/14 scoring 15 points. Gill also had 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals to finish the night.
The Colts will be traveling to Monroe Community College for a two day trip where they will take on the Tribunes of Monroe Community College on Saturday Nov. 16th for a 6:00pm start followed by a game against the Kats of Erie Community College on Sunday Nov. 17th for a 2:00pm start
