
March 20, 2025 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team split a doubleheader Thursday at Rockford University JV. Even though the Kougars collected five hits to Rockford University JV's four, they still fell 6-0 in game one. Daelen Figueroa led Kishwaukee Kougars 2025 with two hits. Carter Simmons started on the hill for Kishwaukee as the hurler gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking three. Sawyer Larson stole two bases. as Kish stole five bases overall in the game.
In game two, Sam Genslinger struck out 10 batters as the Kougars defeated Rockford University JV 14-1. Genslinger surrendered three hits and one run over five innings while walking none. Kish got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jonathan Hartline doubled down the left field line, and Jack Okun grounded out, each scoring one run. They would also score seven runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. Okun hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Dalton Rutherford singled, scoring one run, Jackson Young doubled, scoring one run, Tyler Schmidt singled, scoring one run, and Will Baumgartner singled, scoring three runs. The Kougars continued their offense scoring five runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Figueroa singled, scoring one run, Hartline singled, scoring one run, Okun singled, scoring two runs, and Brock Metzger doubled, scoring one run. Overall, Kishwaukee tallied 12 hits in the game. Okun drove the middle of the lineup, leading Kish with four runs batted in and two stolen bases. Hartline, Baumgartner, Young, and Figueroa each collected two hits. Defensively, the Kougars played clean as they didn't commit a single error in the field. Hartline had the most chances in the field with 10.
Kish will next travel to Triton College for a single nine inning game on Friday then return home Saturday to begin Arrowhead Conference action against Black Hawk College (weather permitting).
