Commodores Wrap Regular Season With Loss at Edison

February 16, 2025 - - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team struggled to find its offensive rhythm, falling to Edison State Community College, 74-52, on Saturday afternoon. The Commodores wrap up the regular season with a 9-17 overall record and a 4-10 mark in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play in Brandon Lawler's first season as head coach who rebuilt the women's hoops program after LCCC did not field a team the previous season.

Edison State came out strong, doubling up LCCC in the first quarter, 26-13, and maintaining control throughout the game. The Commodores showed resilience in the second period, matching the Chargers in scoring, but Edison's consistency kept them ahead.

LCCC was led by Abigail Schmitz (Amherst, Ohio/Firelands HS), who poured in 20 points, including four three-pointers. Michelle Echevarria (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Lehigh HS) added 16 points and five rebounds, while Allison Jones (Homerville, Ohio/Wadsworth HS) contributed a team-best eight rebounds and seven points.
