The Baton Rouge Bears faced off against the Copiah Lincoln Wolves this evening in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center on the BRCC MidCity Campus. Unfortunately, the Bears were unable to contain the Wolves' high-powered offense, resulting in a final score of 87 to 68.
Both teams struggled to find their rhythm offensively in the early moments of the game. With 15 minutes left in the first half, the score was tied at 6. The Wolves then went on a mini 8-2 run, taking a six-point lead with 12 minutes remaining. The Bears fought back and tied the game at 14 when freshman J'Kylon Ceaser converted an and-one play. However, the Wolves received significant offensive contributions from Deven Bates with his three-point shooting and Javian Watkins handling the point guard position. The Bears struggled defensively in the first half, leading to an 8-point deficit at halftime, with the Wolves outscoring them 43 to 35.
The Bears' offense continued to falter at the start of the second half, as the Wolves opened with an 18-9 run, establishing a 61-44 lead with 14 minutes remaining. Ultimately, the Wolves proved to be too strong, defeating the Bears 87-68 in this Region XXIII matchup.
