Williford Drops 30 Points in First Conference Loss

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team fell to the No.11 Johnson County Community College Cavaliers, 77-72 Jan. 15 at Metropolitan Community College–Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo. Camron Williford had a career night shooting 9-15 from the floor, 9-9 from the free throw line, 3-5 from behind the arc finishing with 30 points (career high) along with a team-high seven assists.

BJ Stewart had 13 points at halftime but was only able to score two points in the second half. He finished with a 15 point and 13 rebound double double. That is his fourth double double of the season. O'shawn Jones-Winslow came off the bench and finished with nine points, four rebounds and two blocks. Ta'Veaion Washington had two steals, two rebounds and six points. The Blue Devils were able to build up to a six-point lead in the first half but were not able to contain the No.11 team in the country.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 25-59 from the field (42.4%), 7-23 from three-point range (30.4%) and 15-18 from the free-throw line (83.3%). The Cavaliers shot 26-57 from the field (45.6%), 10-24 from three-point range (41.7%) and 15-24 from the free-throw line (62.5%).

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Fort Scott Community College at 3 p.m. Jan.18 at Park University in Parkville, Mo.
