The Lakeland softball team finally got on the field again today, after 3 consecutive rainouts, as they traveled to Sandusky to face the Terra State Titans. The Lakers came away with a split dropping game one 13-4 before winning the nightcap by a score of 12-7. In game 1, Lakeland struck first in the top of the 1st inning. Carmen Alvarez led off with a single and then stole second base. Abby Haydu would knock Alvarez in for the games first run with an RBI-single. The Titans would answer right back and took a 5-1 lead after 2 innings. Lakeland fought back scoring 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Lauryn Hawkins started things by singling before Alvarez ripped a 2-run blast. The Titans answered with 2 more runs in the home half and so led 7-3 after 3 innings. That score would hold until the 5th inning when Lakeland would score one more run. Peyton Trick hit a single before later scoring on an RBI-triple from Haydu. Unfortunately for the Lakers, that's all the offense they would muster in dropping game 1.

Lakeland came out determined in game 2 to avenge the earlier loss. The Lakers would plate 5 runs in the top of the 1st in setting the tone for the game. Sydney Plotts started the rally with a 2-out single. Abby Haydu would then single before Morgan Gross walked to load the bases. Leah Richter then delivered a 2-RBI single to put the Lakers on the board. Emerson Hren then worked a walk to load the bases again before Madison Ciammaichella hit an RBI-single. Lauryn Hawkins then picked up an RBI when she was hit by a pitch. Hren would later score on a passed ball for the Lakers. The score would remain until the top of the 4th inning when the Lakers tacked on 2 more runs. Carmen Alvarez and Peyton Trick started the rally with back-to-back singles. Sydney Plotts would then hit an RBI-groundout with Trick advancing to 3rd base. Haydu then scored Trick with a sac fly. The Titans broke thru in the home half of the 4th inning as they scored 3 runs to make the score 7-3 after 4 innings. Lakeland responded immediately by scoring 2 more runs in the top of the 5th inning. Emerson Hren led off with a triple before Lauryn Hawkins followed with an RBI-triple.  Hawkins would then score on a sac bunt from Carmen Alvarez. Trailing 9-3, the Titans would make a game of it by taking advantage of a couple Laker errors to score 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Lakeland would again answer immediately by scoring 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Ciammaichella started the inning reaching on an error. Lauryn Hawkins followed with an RBI-triple - getting thrown out at the plate for the 1st out of the inning. Alvarez and Trick would get the Lakers going again with consecutive singles. Plotts would then score Alvarez with an RBI-single before Haydu drove in Trick with a sac fly. The Lakers then shut the door to close out the win.

Peyton Trick got the win on the mound pitching a complete game and allowing 7 tuns (4 earned) while striking out 3 battwers. Offensively, every starter recorded at least one hit as Lakeland finished with 14 total team hits.
