The Lumberjack Women's Basketball dropped a pair of conference games over the long weekend. Falling in a tight game to United Tribes Technical College 62-59 and to Bismarck State College 82-65.
62-59 loss to United Tribes
The Jacks used four three pointers in the opening 10 minutes to hold a 16-15 lead after the first quarter. A seven-point quarter from Amari Butler allowed the Jacks to take a 31-27 lead into the halftime break. A tightly contested third quarter saw UTTC cut the DCB lead to three at 48-45. In a game that stayed one possession for the quarter. Both teams struggled to score in the middle part of the quarter. With three minutes left in the quarter the Thunderbirds would take the lead. The Jacks would have multiple opportunities to tie or take the lead but could not get a shot to fall. The Thunderbirds would take the game by a final score of 62-59.
Butler led the Jacks with 17 points, she was joined in double figures by Day Whitehawk 11. Natalie DeCoteau and Alionna Lawerence were the games co-high scorers for the Thunderbirds with 19 apiece.
82-65 loss to Bismarck State College
The Jacks struggled to get their offense going in the first half shooting just 27% from the field and 12.5% from beyond the arc. At the half the Mystics led 38-24. The Jacks rallied in the third quarter to cut the Mystics lead to just three at 44-41. That is as close as the Jacks would get though as in the fourth quarter the Mystics would knock down six three pointers to retake control of the game. When the buzzer sounded BSC picked up a 82-65 victory.
Serinity Soland and Bulter each had 15 to lead the Lumberjacks. Kiara Comeaux joined them in double figures with 10 points. Aleah McPhearson led the Mystics and all scorers with 20 points.
DCB falls to 7-10 and 0-5 inside the Mon-Dak. DCB will hit the road next Sunday to take on Dawson Community College. Tipoff is set for 2:00p.m. (CST).
