Bears dominate Baton Rouge Post Grad Aces

The Baton Rouge Bears continued their non-conference schedule with a matchup this evening at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center against the Baton Rouge Post Grad Academy Aces. After a slow start, the Bears found their rhythm on both offense and defense, resulting in a dominant victory of 91 to 47 over the Aces.   

In the first five minutes of the first half, both teams struggled to find their footing. At the 15:11 mark, the score was tied at six. However, the Bears then stepped up their game, outscoring the Aces 13-5 over the next five minutes. Key contributions came off the bench from sophomore guards Laron Louis Jr. and Troy Joseph, who combined for 15 points in the first half. The Bears went into halftime with a commanding lead of 40 to 17 over the Aces.   

In the second half, the Bears maintained their aggressive defensive pressure, keeping the Aces off balance on offense. Despite the odds, the Aces continued to fight until the final buzzer. In the second half, the Bears would get solid minutes and production from sophomore guard Harry Johnson and reshman guards Dylan Dominique and McKennis Savoie. The Bears outscored the Aces 51 to 30 in the second half, securing the 91 to 47 victory.   

Awak Machar led the Bears in scoring with 15 points. The team had four players score in double figures. For the Aces, EJ Avery and Caleb Black each contributed 8 points.   

With this victory, the Bears improved to 7-8 for the season and extended their overall series lead against Baton Rouge Post Grad Academy to 3-0.   

Bears Highlights:   

Awak Machar led the Bears with a game high of 15 points and 4 rebounds. 

Courtney McCarthy and Laron Louis Jr both chipped in 11 points. 

Troy Joseph added 10 points with 8 rebounds. 

The Bears will return to the court on Saturday, January 18, 2025, hosting the Southern Arkansas University Tech Rockets at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. The tip-off is set for 2 PM.
