
Trio of Badgers hit .300 average or higher in series defeat to No. 11 Weatherford College
Brooks Carter, Jaxson Lindsey, and Gerardo Prado hit a .300 average or higher during Amarillo College's four-game road series against 11th ranked Weatherford College on Saturday and Sunday at Williams Ballpark.
The freshman outfielder, Lindsey, finished the series with a team-high four hits and a .333 batting average. Carter was 3-for-9 at the plate over four games while Prado finished 3-for-10 with a team-best two RBIs.
David De Hoyos added his third homer of the season – the Badgers lone longball of the series – on Sunday during game three. The returning all-conference third baseman now has 12 career home runs with AC.
Weatherford College started off the four-game homestand with a 6-1 victory on Saturday, followed by a 10-0 run-rule win in six innings to conclude play on Feb. 22.
The Coyotes picked up where they left off on Sunday with a 7-1 win in game three and 11-3 run-rule victory in game four to claim the series sweep.
The 11th ranked team in the country held a distinct advantage in the pitching department as eight WC pitchers combined for 29 strikeouts and nine walks over the weekend.
Amarillo College deployed 13 pitchers in the 23 innings played throughout the weekend. The group combined for 28 walks and 19 strikeouts.
Game one starter Logan Tibbett had his most successful outing of the season in a complete-game effort. The sophomore tallied four strikeouts, two walks, and two earned runs to conclude his 90-pitch outing.
Colton Klemke and Roy Moon struck out three batters apiece during their one-inning appearances in game four.
Amarillo College's overall record dropped to 4-12 after last weekend's sweep. The Badgers are now 2-11 against opponents ranked in the top 15 nationally.
AC is scheduled to play their final non-conference series next weekend on the road against Garden City Community College. The four-game set will be held on Friday and Saturday, beginning at noon each day.
