Mott takes two 8-0 wins over Hawks

FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team held Henry Ford College scoreless in a pair of MCCAA Eastern Conference wins at home on Friday. 

The Bears have won 13 straight after taking both games 8-0 over the Hawks. The sweep moves Mott to 22-5 overall and 14-1 in the MCCAA.

Game One Highlights: 

• Emma Benner blasted her fifth home run of the season, finishing with two RBIs, and two runs. 

• Arika Hines had two hits, including a double, while adding a run.

• Eva Opper added a double and an RBI. 

• Heaven Helkowski recorded three stolen bases, a walk, and a run scored. 

• Hines (11-1), the reigning two-time MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week tossed all five innings for the shutout, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out four. 

Game Two Highlights:

• Cassie Sylvester had the big hit with a three run double, while scoring a run later in the same inning. 

• Opper had two hits, one RBI, a run, and a walk. 

• Hines and Khloe Williams each recorded two hits and a run. 

• Helkowski finished with two hits, one run, and two stolen bases. 

• Maggie Boehm (11-3) pitched six innings for a shutout, allowing six hits, one walk, and struck out nine.
