Strong Second Half Propels Jayhawk Ladies Over Lakeland

KIRKLAND, OH - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball team earned their first victory of the season with a 78-57 road win at Lakeland Community College.

Things didn't start out hot for JCC, falling behind the Lakers by five, 18-13, in the first quarter.

Jamestown settled down in the second quarter, led by sophomore Jennica Berens team-high 16 points and freshman Kendra Altadonna's 12, to outscore Lakeland 22-17 and even things up going to the break.

The game swung the way of the road team in the third quarter; JCC won the frame 22-9 to take a commanding 13-point advantage. Sophomore Myla Truitt was big in those ten minutes, finishing the game with 12 points.

JCC continued the torrid pace in the fourth; sophomore Kaleigha Plett was the scoring leader in the final quarter, adding nine points for Jamestown.

The win moves JCC to 1-1 on the year.

They're back on the court Friday, November 8th, at 7:00 PM when they visit Cuyahoge Community College.
