Iowa Falls, IA – Wednesday in Iowa Falls to close out the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference series, No. 14-ranked Kirkwood Community College allowed a total of three hits and won 14-0 and 10-0 against Ellsworth Community College.

Eagle (36-12, 13-5) hurler Peyton Paulsen once again threw a gem of a game. In 10 innings versus the Panthers, she did not allow a hit. In the most recent installment, Paulsen fanned eight of 16 batters. The lone ECC base runner in the contest was Taryn Petty, who was hit by a pitch in the second frame. She was left stranded at first base.

It was a 1-0 Eagle lead through the first two innings before the visitors broke the game open with five runs in the third, two in the fourth and six in the fifth to end the contest early. Five of their 14 hits were extra base knocks with three triples and a pair of doubles.

ECC (16-22, 5-13) had more chances in game two to score runs with five hits and a walk, but they still did not make it all the way around the bases to score. Ella Garstang opened the fifth with a triple but was taken out on a double play to end the scoring threat. Alli Paulsen, Emmalee Bell, Kendra Rohner and Kiera Hochstein had the other knocks in the contest.

KCC scored three in the first, three in the second, one in the third and three in the fifth to secure the season sweep.

The Panthers are in seventh place in the league standings, ahead of Hawkeye Community College. They are on the road this weekend at No. 21 NIACC on Friday and 12th-ranked Iowa Central on Saturday.
