Miami Dade Falls to Daytona State in Tough Conference Matchup
The Miami Dade Sharks struggled offensively in a 74-55 loss to Daytona State College on Tuesday night.
The Sharks had a difficult time finding their rhythm, shooting just 25% from the field and 12.5% from beyond the arc. Despite a strong effort on the boards, outrebounding Daytona State 48-42, Miami Dade was unable to capitalize on second-chance opportunities.
Ernesto Rodriguez led the Sharks with 13 points, going 5-for-10 from the field and 2-for-6 from three-point range. Hassan Belkhaddar added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Chad Anglin contributed eight points and two blocks. Jamaal Morris battled inside, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.
Daytona State was paced by Dylan Diaz and Huascar Cuevas, who each scored 16 points off the bench. The Falcons shot 44.4% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers, taking control early with a 34-24 halftime lead and never looking back.
Turnovers proved costly for the Sharks, committing 15 compared to Daytona State's 12.
The Sharks will look to bounce back on Saturday when they take on St. Pete on the road.
